This is one of the most beautiful attractions of South Africa and together with Kruger National Park, Blyde River Canyon is one of the most popular places in South Africa.
The majestic Blyde River Canyon with beautiful panoramic view is situated next to the Kruger NP in Mpumalanga region. It is the third largest canyon in the world, after the Grand Canyon in the US and the Fish River Canyon in Namibia but it is definitely the largest “green canyon” with its beautiful greenery.
Once you are in Kruger NP, it is definitely worthy to combine your visit with the nearby Panorama Route and Blyde River Canyon. There is so much to see with lots of fun activities.
The main highlights of Panorama route include Pinnacle, God’s Window, Wonder view, Lisbon Falls and Berlin Falls, also Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and Lowveld viewpoint. But the most impressive of all is the Three Rondavels viewpoint.
The best way to explore and see the most of the beauty of the Blyde River Canyon is either by helicopter or by boat at Blyde Dam. We took both, the boat and the helicopter, and it was definitely an amazing experience.
Blyde River Canyon offers so many activities, which you can really enjoy, including hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing and rafting.
